Road ride from the outlaws through Burnley to Fence and then around Pendle Hill and Clitheroe and back through Whalley.
Longest road ride of the year at 3:49 85 km
facts 2873 cals, 1150m of ascent, 74 rpm average cadence (probably explained by the hilly terrain and need to map read)
The good thing about this ride is that I have broken my "fear" of the back lanes in the area and this will open up more routes. The route through Burnley was OK but not for busy times of the day or match days though.
The rout back through Whalley was OK apart from the usual idiots who can't give anyone room on the road or be delayed. I do ned to find other quieter ones if possible.

25/08 Road Ride
Managed to escape first thing Sat morning for a 40 mile ride.
Due to a lack of inspiration I did my standard Cliviger loop on the hack bike
"loop time" was 2:20. pb is 1:59 on the "race" bike
ave cadence 80 rpm, 675m ascent, 2041 cals
the weather was overcast and it tried to rain a couple of times

23/08 Thursday Night MTB
Just me and Jason out.
He decided to set a fast pace up the cobbles and set the tone for the ride.
I then proceeded to drag him up the biggst climbs in the area
probably 2hrs of riding time, 640m of ascent, 1920 calories
3 pints in the pub!

Velodrome Taster Session
Well I survived, and it wasn't that bad really.
Took Rick, who now walks like John Wayne after 60 mins on a velodrome hire bike.
My right Knee played up a bit which probably means that I need to work on my bike position. The plan is to change my pedals in any case so I will work on it then.
John Leach velodrome coach condemned me as a "failed road rider", little does he know I am a failed track and mtb rider as well.
Now I need to sort out some training objectives and my diet. Weight loss is going to be key to any future racing speed.
Back to the turbo............

First Post
This blog is going to record my desperate efforts to attain sporting mediocrity.
The training regime starts with a return to the velodrome on the track bike rather than the derny tonight.
Hopefully it wont be too embarrassing......
I will report back soon
